[So, how have the past few days treated you? Have you found a place to stay? Have you met some friends? Maybe rested enough to recover your wounds? Well, let’s hope so...

Near the beginning of the afternoon a giant shockwave will rumble through the walls and a large explosion will be heard all across the Castle, causing a huge hole to open up from the gardens. And apparently failing to notice the huge door right next to it.

A few moments later, a few dozen ghosts come pouring in, attacking anyone and everything in sight. And that’s only those who have managed to enter the Castle: the troops have the entire area surrounded.

Finally a few moments later a much bigger and larger ghost shows up, gratuitously posing for everyone to see.]

Alright boys, now that Prince Laharl is long gone, this place is ours. Drive out these old sympathisers, we don’t need a bunch of Krichevskoy losers hanging around. Things are gonna change around here.

[The army of ghosts all stop and salute]

All hail the Ghost Overlord!

[Laharl is not normally the most responsive Overlord, but that was definitely an explosion. And explosions mean either trouble or fun to be had (or are those the same thing?), so this time it's enough to bring him out of the throne room to witness the entrance of the lead ghost. He's not too concerned or intimidated by the numbers, and it does seem like it could be fun until the guy speaks.

All right, so that other ghost claiming to be an Overlord was pretty clueless, too, but this is just absurd.]

"Long gone"? What the hell do you think you're doing?

[The "New Overlord" didn't waste much time to gloat about his new position, after all, it's not everyday a simple ghost leader becomes the new King of the Netherworld.

So he doesn't immediately notice Laharl there, instead, focusing on how he was planning on redecorating the place. He finally turns to Laharl.]

Wow... Krichevskoy really didn't know what to do with this place. What's with all the roses? Urgh.

[He turns back to the rose bushes, wondering how to burn them when... wait... That was...

He turns back to the Prince.]


AAAAARGH, A GHOST!

[Laharl was approaching the would-be redecorator, but that unexpected shout makes him jump back a step.]

Wha-

You're the ghost, you idiot!!

No, you are!

[Well wait, yeah, so is he, but that's different!]

Are we going to have to call in the exorcists? Shoo, Ghost Prince, we have no need for you in our ranks. This is our place now.

I'm not dead!

And it's Overlord now -- this is my castle, and I'm not about to let you waltz right in!

What? Yes you are!

And you're no longer the Overlord, as per your own rules. You lost your own contest!

[once again Troubadour can be found in the gardens -- something about the place appeals to him. So when, you know, explosions start to happen and a huge hole appears, he's right there to see it all, from his first row seat of getting sprawled out on the floor, singed from the explosion]

Just what is going on here!? There's no such thing as a Ghost Overlord!

[And so the Ghost Overlord seemingly disappears from sight... only to pop right back out of nowhere a few seconds later right in Troubadour's face!]

WHO DARES TO DISRESPECT THE GHOST OVERLORD?!

D-Don't do that!

[He moves back a little]

... man, calm down. Yeesh, you're kind of a wimp for a demon...

I was planning on killing you along with the rest... but I'm not sure if I want to risk you coming back with us.

[he shoots to his feet, sputtering] I am not a demon! How could even say such a thing!?

[Adell was busy putting some touches on his booth in the main castle for his personal business when the attack started. And when the ghost made his appearance and started talking, he looked over to them.

Ghost Overlord? Great. Unimpressed demon hunter is unimpressed.]

Hate to disappoint you idiots, but Laharl ain't dead. And if you don't want him to kick all of your sorry asses out of here, you might want to turn around and leave. And leave some Hell for the spackle it's going to take to fix the new door you just made.

[Oh yeah? Well this Ghost Overlord isn't impressed with your own lack of being impressed either!]

Okay, so we missed the part where he wasn't dead... can you blame us? It's not like he's been doing anything lately, how could we have known?

And anyway, dead or alive, it doesn't matter. I'm the Overlord now, so you're the one who should scram!

[That just makes Adell laugh. And he doesn't bother hiding the derision. His time in other worlds did teach him more of tact, but only with people who deserved it.]

Was it that he didn't do anything, or that you weren't paying attention? Considering you missed the first part, I gotta wonder.

[He tosses aside the hammer he had been using to assemble the booth and cracked his knuckles.]

I didn't take a knee to Laharl, and I'm sure as hell not taking one to you and your spook brigade, Casper. I admire that you took the direct approach, but I'm really thinking you didn't think through your plan.

Hey, I was paying perfect attention. I even asked around! No one knew we had an Overlord! [Well... that part is sadly true.


However... a large group of gasps can suddenly be heard. Both the Ghost Overlord and many of the surrounding ghosts just... STOP]

What. Did. You. Just. Call. Me?

WHAT DID YOU JUST CALL ME?!

What, are you as deaf as you are stupid? You heard me.

[He cracks the knuckles on his other hand, completely and unabashedly unapologetic.]

I ain't afraid of no ghost.

That's IT. No one gets away with insulting ME! Get him, boys!

[And thus, a whole bunch of ghost minions team up and rush as Adell while he conveniently escapes continues to make his way to the throne room. HIS throne room]

[So yeah. Soma lost to Laharl. No surprise there. Scripted boss battle, et cetera, et cetera. He knew going in he wasn't going to win - his goal was to avoid becoming a stain on the rug, and that he did admirably. As such, he came out without too many serious injuries - nothing a couple potions couldn't fix. Man, when did he become a character in someone else's RPG?

All that aside, this commotion has drawn his attention, so he's going to investigate in his traditional manner - which means a couple of those lowbie ghosts just went poof. Anyone nearby miiiiight just see one of their souls getting absorbed. (No new ability, he already has ghost souls.)]

Man, these guys are really scraping the bottom of the barrel. The castle's flunkies were tougher than this.

[Is this guy OHKO'ing my minions? Dude, not cool!]

[Yes, he is in fact doing just that. It may have more to do with the sword he's using to do it than with the guy himself, but hey, why pick nits?]

What d'you mean, cheating? You invaded the castle by blowing a big freakin' hole in the wall and dumped a load of small fry in, what did you expect to happen to them?

Huh? Well lose a couple to the stronger vassals, but that's pretty much it.

But seriously, you can't just kill people in one shot! That's just... cheap!

['Cheap'? The hell is a ghost using gamer lingo for? ...Then again, the Overlord is a gamer, maybe this is... some kinda oddball Hell where the locals are all gamer geeks? The circle of Hell reserved for trolls, maybe?]

Well, you're looking at one of the stronger vassals, but that's not the point. Did you seriously think just one type of demon was going to be enough? Figure out their weaknesses and it just becomes a shooting gallery, man. I could go easy, maybe handicap myself, and there'd still be very little change.

[Yeah, Ghosty, Soma kinda pities you. This was just bad tactics.]

[The shockwave definitely gets Terra's attention, as she walks down a hallway. She nearly stumbles into the wall nearest her, only managing to avoid that by bracing her hand against it in time. Once she's regained her footing, the green-haired woman dashes down the hall, looking for both the source of the trouble and any familiar faces that need help or want to team up. It's about time to earn her keep.]
